Welcome to my web page!! Please feel free to browse. I started as an assistant professor in the Department of Economics at the University of North Dakota in August 2001. The Department is part of the College of Business & Public Administration, located in Gamble Hall. I was named the Clow Banking Fellow for the College in 2005. In January of 2006 I became the Associate State Director for the North Dakota Small Business Development Center. I received my Ph.D. in Economics from Indiana University in December, 2001. I received my B.A. in Economics from Boston College in 1995 and graduated cum laude.
My research projects cover many areas such as colonial era merchant credit mechanisms, banking regulation, land values in the 19th century Great Plains, and banking and financial crises throughout history. The research link below takes you to copies of any available working papers, as well as a larger list of research papers available on request.
My teaching includes banking courses, such as Principles of Banking and Bank Regulation, as well as Business & Economic History. Students in my classes will find class pages with resources such as syllabi, course outlines, and assignments as well as links that will help them find data for papers and links to help them with writing. In addition, the 'General Links' contains many sources of economic and general information that will help people gather data, think critically, and become better informed people.
